“I AM.”

Exodus 3:14

God-given dreams often lie dormant for so long that we come to believe they are dead. We become convinced that it is impossible for them to be realized.

God’s call to Moses at the burning bush reawakens Moses’ passion to deliver his people from bondage.

Moses’ interest has been piqued; he has longed to deliver his people, but he sees impossibilities that stand in the way of his God dream being fulfilled. It is here that God submits his name as an answer to Moses’ hesitation: “Tell them ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

There is a beautiful opening of possibilities in the name “I AM.”

It is a name without limits. It means the existing one, the one who is not limited by time, space, or circumstances. God is unrestricted by what restricts us.

The God who was calling Moses was not limited by the 40 years that had gone by since Moses had first attempted to lead his people to freedom. The God who called Moses was not limited by Moses’ weaknesses or the weaknesses of the people he was to lead. The existing one could provide and achieve all that he was calling Moses to do.

He proved himself true to his name. He was not limited by the iron will of the Egyptian Pharaoh. He was not limited by the Red Sea and the pursuing Egyptian hordes. He was not limited by the absence of food and water in the desert.

Moses learned that what limits us does not limit the “I AM.” In the new Testament, we come to know the “I AM” as Jesus our savior and Lord.

Are there restrictions standing in the way of your God dream? Are you dreaming of a ministry for his glory? Have you dreamed of his will to be done in a new way in your family? Has your dream been buried in the drifting of time?

The “I AM” is not restricted by what holds you back.

Listen for his call; it may be time to unearth the long-buried dream.

Prayer starter: Lord, reveal where my thinking is limiting what you want to do in and through me.
